Out of the 80 known cetacean species, about 20 have been observed in the waters of the Canary Islands: it is thanks to a year-long temperate climate, warm waters and the deep seafloors that these islands attract so many marine mammals. And the south coast of Tenerife is one of the best places to go whale and dolphin watching. On board an eco-friendly and certified “Blue Boat” catamaran, with a small group of maximum 12 people and an experienced staff, you will set sail in the Atlantic on an memorable dolphin and whale watching boat trip in Tenerife. Get all food and drinks included onboard, plus the chance to have a swim or snorkel in one of the bays along the coast.
Program of the Tenerife boat tour with whale and dolphin watching:
Meet 15 minutes before the departure time at the meeting point in Puerto Colón, dock n.6. Here you will meet the crew and board a luxury catamaran.
After a quick safety briefing, you will set sail towards the ideal dolphin and whale watching hotspots, such as the Teno-Rasca Whale Sanctuary, part of Tenerife’s official Special Conservation Zone about 3.4 miles off the coast, established to ensure the long-term survival of the most vulnerable animals and natural habitats. This area is home to up to 22 different species of cetaceans, of which the all year residents are the Pilot Whale and Bottlenose Dolphin, as well as sea turtles, like the loggerhead (caretta caretta) and the green turtle. You will be able to admire these wonderful creatures up close in their natural habitat, listening to the crew’s expert commentary and safe in the knowledge that you are having a sustainable and responsible navigation experience, guaranteed by the “Blue Boat” flag that certifies the local operator’s professional authorization to carry out whale and dolphin watching.
We will then continue to a quiet bay where we will stop for swimming and snorkeling, as well as to enjoy an aperitif with assorted sandwiches and drinks.
At the end of the boat trip, you will return to Puerto Colón.
*This experience requires a minimum number of 6 travellers. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund.

Tenerife is a multifaceted island in the Canaries, where everyone can have fun and find something to do: from nightlife to nature hikes, from historical visits to cultural experiences. So if you're wondering what to do in Tenerife, you're spoiled for choice. The most renowned tourist spots in Tenerife are Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava, Isla Baja, Playa de las Américas, and Los Cristianos.
Whether you're staying in the south or the north of the island, we recommend moving around to enjoy the variety of activities and landscapes the place offers. The south of Tenerife is generally the most touristy area, full of nightlife, venues, hotels, and equipped beaches; while the northern coastal area features wilder landscapes and charming bays. Sea lovers can experience Tenerife without missing out on any kind of adventure, especially dolphin and whale watching: a must-do in Tenerife for those seeking a deep connection with nature. For hikers, there are also many natural parks, chief among them the Teide National Park, the highest volcano in Europe, nearly 4,000 meters tall.
Spotting dolphins and whales in Tenerife is one of the most powerful experiences the island can offer. This is not an entertainment show, but a truly eco-sustainable tour carried out in full respect of the habitat of these beautiful marine animals that have chosen Tenerife as their home. With this tour, you'll see bottlenose dolphins and pilot whales up close in complete freedom: you may feed them or even swim with the dolphins, guided by professional and certified experts. Our boats are “Blue Boats”, easily recognized by the distinctive yellow flag that signifies the professionalism of those conducting this whale watching activity.
The beaches most loved by tourists in Tenerife looking for nightlife and fun are Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos, located in the southern part of the island. These golden beaches are equipped with all amenities and are close to restaurants, clubs, and bars, as well as offering opportunities for paragliding and various water sports.
For those who prefer less touristy beaches, we recommend heading to El Duque on the Costa Adeje, or even forgoing fine sand to discover wilder landscapes like Playa Montana Amarilla in the south of the island: a true wild gem between the black of volcanic rock and the golden coastline carved by the wind.
Tenerife is best explored by car. Unless you plan to stay mainly in the southern part of the island for a vacation focused on sun and nightlife, the most convenient way to reach all areas of the island is to rent a car. Roads in Tenerife are easily navigable from south to north. A tip: if you intend to travel independently and reach the mountainous areas, Teide National Park, or the northern coast, it's advisable to rent a car capable of handling uphill drives comfortably.
Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and has two airports: one in the north of the island, known as Tenerife North Airport or Los Rodeos (TFN), and one in the south, called Reina Sofía (TFS), more commonly known as Tenerife South Airport.
The island of Tenerife lies between the islands of Gran Canaria and La Gomera. Like all the Canary Islands, it is located west of Africa and is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean.
The excursion in Tenerife is carried out on a comfortable catamaran, which can accommodate small groups of up to 11 people on board, ensuring both privacy and safety. The yellow “Blue Boat” flag certifies the professionalism of the operators in conducting whale and dolphin watching activities.
The experience lasts about 3 hours, during which you can spot whales, dolphins, and turtles, enjoy a stop for swimming and snorkeling, and taste some snacks on board.
