Are you a nature enthusiast? Opt for this boat trip from Faro and set sail on a comfortable vessel with a small group of only 8 guests to search for dolphins. Traverse the Ria Formosa Natural Park, one of Portugal’s seven natural wonders, and venture into the open sea. Thanks to the expertise of the marine biologists on board, you’ll have the opportunity to observe not only dolphins but also whales and orcas and learn about their unique characteristics.
Program of the boat trip from Faro in search of dolphins:
- Meet 15 minutes before the departure time at Faro Marina. When you reach the “Santa Maria Petisca Ria” restaurant, continue walking until you see the flags. At this point, you’ll spot the “Ocean Emotions” shop sign and the Ocean Vibes logo.
- The tour commences by navigating through the Ria Formosa Natural Park. Regarded as one of Portugal’s seven natural wonders, the park reveals the wild and unspoiled side of the Algarve coast. Away from the hustle and bustle, this area, spanning approximately 18 thousand hectares, encompasses various ecosystems such as beaches, lagoons, canals and islands, and is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna.
- After traversing the park, we head into the open sea, where our quest to spot cetaceans begins. The marine biologist team will provide in-depth information about the species you might encounter. Among the most common in the area are Tursiop Truncatus and Delphinus Delphis, but with a stroke of luck, you might also glimpse orcas and fin whales, in addition to numerous local seabird species. Keep your camera ready to capture the enchanting moment when dolphins playfully swim around the boat; it’s an unforgettable experience!
- On the return journey, we’ll once again cruise through the Ria Formosa, allowing you to relax on board while admiring the scenery and listening to the sounds of this magnificent natural paradise.
- The tour concludes after approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes with the return to Faro Marina.
