Program of the boat trip to Algar de Benagil from Portimão:
- Meet 15 minutes before the departure time at Porto Comercial de Portimão, 8500-512 Portimão, Portugal. The Algarve Discovery staff will be waiting for you at the gate.
- We’ll start our journey along the tranquil waters of the Arade River, where you’ll have a chance to admire the picturesque fishing village of Ferragudo and the historic Fort of S. João do Arade, also known as “Ferragudo Castle.” This military fortress, perched atop a hill, was constructed in the 19th century to monitor ship movements and defend against pirates.
- Continuing our voyage, where the Arade River meets the Atlantic Ocean, you’ll be treated to views of Portimão’s main beach, Praia da Rocha. This beach is a popular summer destination, known for its expansive stretch of golden sand and clear, refreshing waters.
- Next, we’ll head to Carvoeiro, a charming and unspoiled Algarve village, ideal for those seeking peace and tranquility. Here, you’ll be captivated by the breathtaking views of Algar Seco and the remarkable rock formations, caves, and windows sculpted by the sea’s erosive forces over the years.
- After a panoramic cruise along the coast, our final destination is Praia de Benagil. Thanks to the small size of our specially selected boat, you will have the unique opportunity to enter the famous Benagil Cave and experience its enchantment. The circular opening in the cave’s ceiling allows sunlight to stream in, illuminating the crystal-clear waters and golden cliffs, making it an absolute must-visit destination in the Algarve. Here, you’ll feel completely immersed in nature and can relax while listening to the amplified sound of the sea’s gentle waves within the cavern.
- Our last stop is Praia da Marinha, renowned for its hidden coves nestled among the rocks, overlooking the transparent turquoise sea that provides a clear view of the seabed. At this point in the tour, before our return, you’ll have the opportunity to take a refreshing swim in the waters of this exquisite natural paradise.
- The tour concludes after approximately 2 hours, with our return to Clube Naval De Portimão.
