Anyone who has been to Portugal knows it: any moment is a good time for a coffee paired with a pastéis de nata! After my last trip to Lisbon, I can guarantee it's impossible to walk through the streets of the capital without being captivated by the caramelized aroma typical of these Portuguese treats.
For those who haven't yet tried this real delight, pastéis de nata are small, crispy puff pastries filled with a cream made from egg yolks, or "gemas" in Portuguese—true egg gems!
