The southeastern tip of Dugi Otok is split in two by the deeply indented Telašćica Bay, dotted with five small islands and five even tinier islets. With superb, sheltered azure waters, it’s one of the largest, most beautiful and least spoilt natural harbours in the Adriatic. Hop aboard your sailing boat and set off for the Telašćica Nature Park: you can swim in the azure waters of a protected cove, hike along the coast, see stone sculptures and local nature preserves, and more.
Tour program of the sailing trip to Telašćica Nature Park:
Meeting point at 8:45am in Zadar at the entrance of the Marina Borik address Obala kneza Domagoja 1 (entrance opposite the Yachting Bar).
We will set sail for the island of Dugi Otok. On the way there, you’ll be able to see a part of the Kornati National Park, and then you’ll enter the Telašćica Nature Park. We will stop at Telašćica bay, the biggest and the most beautiful natural harbour in the Adriatic sea, after which the whole nature park got the name. Here you can enjoy some free time for swimming and snorkeling. You can also have a stroll and visit the donkey reserve, home to 14 Croatian breed donkeys.
The tour continues with short sightseeing of the unique saltwater lake Mir (which means Peace in English) in the southwestern part of the park. The salt waters of the lake derive from the underground canals that connect it to the sea. It is one of very few salt lakes in Europe.
Afterwards the boat departs to its last location, the cliffs of Dugi Otok, called Stene (and also known as the “Devil`s Cliffs”). Marvel at the vertical cliffs that rise up to 160 meters from the sea and vertically falling down 90 m into the sea. The area is rich in interesting flora and fauns, and, if you are lucky enough, dolphins may be seen swimming along the cliffs.
Before coming back to Zadar, enjoy a last stop in a small cove for more swimming.
The tour will end around 6:00pm in Zadar.

Why visit the Long Island? Dugi Otok island (“Dughi Otok” or Long Island) is the largest island in the Zadar Archipelago and the whole Northern Dalmatia. This island is 45 km long and 1 to 4 km wide, but little inhabited (3000 residents concentrated in 12 countries). The Long island is perfect for those in search of peace and quiet. Before we reach this paradise, we will sail through the Kornati National Park known for its 152 islands. The morphology of this Croatian island is very diverse, so much so that it creates different landscapes: from sandy beaches (such as Sakarun), to high bare limestone rocks falling perpendicularly to the sea (such as the Devil’s Cliff), to the famous Telascica Bay which is home to the Telascica Nature Park and the Mir Salt Lake.
The main attraction of Dugi Otok (or Long Island) is the Telascica Nature Park which is located within the bay of the same name. The bay of Telascica is located in the southern part of the island Dugi Otok in the Zaratino archipelago, occupies an area of 70,50 square kilometres and within it are 13 islands, islets and reefs. The name Telascica probably derives from the Latin “three lagus”, or three lakes, in fact the bay has three parts or lagoons separated by bottlenecks, Tripuljak, Farfarikulac and Telascica: karts swallowers submerged during the last ice age, 10 thousand years ago. The seabed of the bay is rich in algae and underwater views and is the fundamental habitat of numerous marine species that reproduce here. We are in a protected region since 1980. Once in the Park do not miss the salt lake Mir, which seems to have a healing power, and the Devil’s Cliff (Stene).
Inside the Telascica Park you will find one of the few salt lakes in Europe: Lake Mir. Lake Mir, which in Italian means “peace”, is a natural basin that fills up with salt water directly from the sea thanks to underground fissures. This high salt concentration allows Lake Mir to have a very diverse flora and fauna. But it doesn’t end there, because part of the bottom of Lake Mir is made of medicinal mud, which makes this lake very special.
One of the places to visit in Croatia for landscape lovers is the Devil’s Cliff. This complex of limestone cliffs is located on the island of Dugi Otok, within the Zadar archipelago. Devil’s Cliff, called Stene in Croatian, is one of the main attractions of Telascica Park. These cliffs overlook the open sea, at a height of 160 meters above sea level and up to over 80 meters below sea level. An unmissable natural spectacle that you can admire during the sailing tour to the Telascica Park. The conformation of these cliffs make them a perfect nesting area for a large number of birds, including peregrine falcons.
The tour to Telascica Park on the Long Island starts from Zadar and takes place on a sailing boat with a maximum of 7 people on board. You will be able to experience a special excursion to discover an enchanting island and its unmissable places to visit.
This boat tour to the Telascica Park is suitable for those who love the sailing experience. Sailing through the Zadar archipelago, passing through the Kornati Park and then visiting the beautiful Telascica Nature Park makes this tour very attractive, especially for adults who like to admire the beauty of the sea landscape with a sailboat.
No, the boat trip to the Long Island does not include lunch on board. However, you will have free time for lunch during your visit to the Telascica Park.
