While on your holiday in Portugal, live an unforgettable experience as you search for dolphins during the most magical time of day: sunset! Depart from Faro with a small group of just 8 passengers on a comfortable embarkation and journey through the Ria Formosa Natural Park, a protected area under the “Natura 2000” project. From there, head out to sea in search of marine inhabitants of the Atlantic Ocean, including dolphins, as well as orcas and fin whales.
Program of the sunset dolphin watching boat tour from Faro:
- Meet 15 minutes before the departure time at Faro Marina. As you approach the “Santa Maria Petisca Ria” restaurant, continue walking until you see the flags. At this point, you will spot the “Ocean Emotions” shop sign and the Ocean Vibes logo.
- The tour begins with a sail through the Ria Formosa Natural Park, one of the most remote coastal areas, considered one of the 7 natural wonders of Portugal. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this area is home to a wide variety of ecosystems, including lagoons, marshes, islands, and beaches, all teeming with flora and fauna. Don’t forget your camera to capture the unique landscapes along the way.
- Once you’ve crossed the park, the real adventure in search of dolphins begins. Accompanied by our team of marine biologists, you’ll venture off the coast to the points where the chances of seeing dolphins are highest. Our experts will answer your questions and provide information and interesting facts about the marine species you may encounter. The most common species include Tursiop Truncatus and Delphinus Delphis, but with a bit of luck, you may also spot fin whales and orcas, in addition to the many species of seabirds characteristic of this area. The dolphin show is enhanced by the colors and shades of the sunset reflecting on the water, creating a truly magical atmosphere.
- On the return journey, while sailing along the Ria Formosa, you can relax on board, admire the scenery, and listen to the sounds of this wonderful natural paradise as the last rays of daylight give way to the evening colors.
- The tour concludes after about 2 hours and 30 minutes with a return to Faro Port.
